I did post a question a while back about changing the colour of my speakers but u think that's more effort that it's worth. I'm now looking at gloss white speakers but they seem very rare and/or expensive, vast majority seem to be satin which I don't want. Am I just being too fussy?

Likely white is not a popular finish vs the black / oak / wood look I expect for most peoples taste / room, combine with gloss finish's being slightly more expensive so not the most common finish I expect. That said I do love gloss white, what I got all my Tannoy XT series in, any other finish in my room would look horrible (aside satin white)

I am not sure what thread you had before, but if the question was changing the finish of existing speakers, then can imagine why it was not recommended to change the colour / finish. Usually getting rid of what you may have now and replacing with quality gloss white floorstanders will likely mean losing money on what you have now and outlaying a decent chunk of cash to replace them. As you say, most floorstanders in gloss colours usually are on slightly more expensive speakers so will need decent chunk of cash. Just need to balance if your willing to spend a decent amount of cash to simply get speakers which you may like aesthetically, there are solid ones out there.

That's because in home cinemas white gloss is a terrible choice, you want the speakers to visually dissapear not to be sticking out like a sore thumb. Also not everyone wants their room to look like a Apple store.

White speakers are more common than years ago but there is more choice with darker colours. Arendel, Q Acoustics, Monitor Audio are one brand I can think of with white speakers. #

White speakers are good for wall mount if your walls are white, they dissappear into the room much better.

These?

Several KEF floorstanding models are available in gloss white: R5, R7, R11

DALI Rubicon are also available in gloss white.

They are all north of £2000-£3000 though. The reason is simple. After the cost of making the boxes, the surface finish can come in as the second most expensive item once you get away from basic vinyl wrap. That's why you don't find £99 standmount speakers in piano gloss finishes.

To add to this, gloss white is a bugger to keep clean and so it sells in relatively small numbers compared to the other finishes. You could almost consider it a custom choice. Anything done as low volume / small batch or one-off production is going to be expensive.

Price up automotive spray paint shops. See what it would cost to have some speakers resprayed. I think they might need to be a wood veneer finish to start with though, but the paint techs can advise.

What was wrong with the previous suggestion of wrapping them?
I enquired at a few places and the wouldn't touch them.

I did see those revel ones, there's a website that seems to be selling them at 900 rather than 2000 which made me question if they were legit. Our room is dark green/ white and its next to a pine bookcase. I'll post a pic, I'm open to suggestions on best colour, I just think black will stick out more.

Got a pock, sorry but the wall is greener than my phone shows. It's this colour.

Given that your wall looks blue, that paint looks blue, the paint details say
  • Colour Family: Blues
And it's called "Sapphire Salute" where the name sapphire is derived from the Latin "saphirus" and the Greek "sapheiros", both of which mean blue...

I think you're going to have to accept your room is blue not green. :D ;)

I so wish I could kick people on the internet:p. Honestly it's one of those colours that don't photograph correctly (it's a thing believe me). It looks a little bit green than it photos, but obviously impossible to show. Regardless its to show what people thing on speaker colour, I was expecting you all to say its blue:cry:.

As daft as it sounds, it looks more like this (random picture I've stolen, but to give you idea of the actual shade)

I know it sounds stupid, but a guy at work has a green fiesta, but whenever a camera see it, it just looks blue it's not me making it up honest.

Using a DIY vinyl wrap is the best option, cheap and easy to do. If you don't like it can be easily undone.

I'm not kidding, I've seen it done with some cheap £9.99 rolls from B&M for doing kitchen units. It was 2.1 x 1m (IIRC) which meant it could easily reach from top to bottom, and only needed a smaller piece on the rear that can't be seen anyhow. Just unbolted the drive units to do the front and tuck in and cut neatly, and same for the crossover/terminals at the rear. All surfaces were prepared by wiping them down with 99.9% IPA.

I wish I had a picture to show you, they were done in glossy grey, and looked great, originally they were black ash.

Probably want to move the speakers away from the wall, since they're rear ported. And buy a subwoofer or two.
I've got the bungs in the rear, the sub is out of shot. The distance from the wall is a compromise as otherwise it sticks into the room too much, its not obvious from the pic, but there's a doorway right where the wall ends on the right hand side.
