this seems to be a Marmite subject! It seems that it really is a personal decision so my best advice would be to go to an apple store and try both.

Glossy put me off replacing my iBook G4 for months because I'd used a Windows glossy laptop when they first started appearing and it was awful.

In the end, my hand was forced because the G4 was becoming too slow (and PowerPC had almost been eradicated) so I ended up buying one. The screen wasn't half as bad as I expected it to be and if anything I've grown to like it. I'd definitely have no reservations about buying one again.
