Gf has broken her handbag and of course its the end of the world. What has came off its a large metal button that kind of clips onto another button, if you think a very large purse type closure its basically the same.

Can you get seriously strong glue for metal to metal adhesion? Or is ot going to have to be a welding job? It would need to be strong enough to hold the bag shut and so something hardore is needed, any ideas?

Tried and tested, 100% Awesomness in a bottle

Used Araldite for things before and whilst its good i dont think it would hold the catch when it gets used, the JB weld stuff looks like it might be worth a try. An d no im not buying her a new bag, they cost a bomb :)

While we're on the subject, what would join metal and glass? I've tried industrial super glue and Araldite, no joy.

Araldite ought to do it tolerably TBQH, although obviously I don't know what sort of strength you're looking for in the join.
Were the surfaces smooth to start with though?
When you're joining two things like this, a light sanding on each of the two surfaces will produce a much better bond than trying to join two smooth surfaces.

I'll give it another try. Thanks :)

Must be very clean too. I used nail polish remover (old style with acetone in), or if it's brass/copper brasso shines it up nicely beforehand :)

JB Weld, that stuff is really good, fixed a hole in engine casing where kick start had worn through magnesium alloy on a wet clutch, even polished it afterwards and it was where the kick start lever rested on the casing when folded in it never left a mark on the weld, ive been using the stuff about 17 years and not found anything better, good for glass, metal, ceramics and any combination really.

Just thought, mate had some off me once and stuck his rear view mirror mount (metal) to his windscreen.
