Glut of rubbish

I read something on reddit, whether it's true or not or is anyone's guess, but they mentioned that most films that are produced for streaming markets are done so for what is called "the mobile phone generation".

From the ghist of the post was that, producers make a ton of films with less budgets and thinner stories because people will spend more time looking at their phone than the screen.
What better way to make it look like a hit than use big names who aren't as popular anymore and will take a what they can get.

They can't cope with anything that lasts longer than a tik tok, so why bother producing content for them?

Netflix et al have to be worried because there's no way kids born in the last decade or in the future are going to watch TV when they're old enough to buy subs, they just won't have the attn span required.

movies need to be a maximum of 4 minutes long anything longer than that is just boring to the young generations who had their dopamine addictions since life long.

peoples expectations of how a movie should be h as been shaped by things such as transformers, marvel etc.

you can't do dialogue anymore it just detracts from the movie,. we need 90mins of explosions and movies made for deaf people who just want to sit back eat popcorn and browse their phones between explosions.

It's not just young people though everyone is being conditioned, I'm way less patient than I used to be, I find my self skipping through tv series/movies instead of paying attention.

Short Circuit, both movies brilliant.

Flight Of The Navigator.

The Abyss.

Inner Space.

Batteries not Included.

Jaws.

I see Red Letter Media has just posted a video about the Bruce Willis Fake Movie factory.

He's not got any massive alimony payments due from his previous marriage (unlike De Niro) and can't be that short of cash from any other publicly noticeable debts (kids uni fee's, health care etc) so his recent "for the pay check" movie streak doesn't make much sense unless he's in hidden debt from non-noticable sources (lost money in bad investment deals etc).

Either way it's a shame to see actors of the level "prestige" of Willis, Pacino, De Niro etc all pumping out Z-list level "for the pay check" movies hand over fist.

The rumours are that he is in the early stages of dementia and cannot remember his lines at all, hence the ear piece and why he needed that for the Broadway show he did.

A few people in the YouTube comments who "have friends" who worked on the movie go in to a fair amount of detail (but could still be BS) plus there are a few articles on the internet saying the same thing (though one is in O.K Magazine)

He hasn't done an interview for 3 years though, which is also telling.

He's either being manipulated in to doing them by his management or simply trying to earn enough money to cover his care and set all his family up for life (he has a young wife/family)

seems like most the 90s actors just take any crap these days
I think a lot of them wasted much of their money on various things, and others tended towards either the larger "upfront" payment rather than the residuals, or had issues with the taxman and bad investments at one point or another.

100% agree with @BUDFORCE models often beat CGI. Compare puppet Yoda and CGI Yoda etc. Alien.

In the late eighties and early nineties Stallone was virtually written off, a forgotten actor (Stop or My Mum Will Shoot) to only bounce back with some classics (Cliffhanger, Demolition Man, Copland) and restore his place as an AAA actor. Since then its waned and I have got to say the later Rambo (3 onwards) and Rocky films (4 onwards) should never have been made. They really took the shine off the original films. The last Rambo film was particularly nasty.

Steven Seagal, like Van Damme were always a guilty pleasure! Time Cops and Under Siege for me are the highpoints. Lost count of Seagal films - all I remember was the creosote/jet black painted hair in the later movies!

The last film I watched with Willis was Death Wish, it was okay but... went down the sadistic route so any plot/story fell by the wayside.

Schwarzenegger entered politics and to be honest, I don't think his film career recovered from his nineties heyday.
