Hi.
Is there a way to get gmail working with Linux? Specifically Ubuntu.

Ive tryed 3 seperate email programs, and despite the settings being identical to the settings in Outlook Express, they wont connect to gmail.

Also, on a side note, is there any harm in having multiple programs of the same types on my Ubuntu system? Ive got 3 email programs, 3 browsers, loads of other programs as well.
Any harm in that?

Thanks in advance. :)

My gentoo box has at least two email programs, about four browsers, etc. No harm has come to it yet.

Are you running any kind of firewall? I don't know what Ubuntu provides by default in that respect as I've never used it.

Not afaik. I dont think Ubuntu comes with a firewall does it?
My router has a firewall on it, but it doesnt cause problems with my other computers/OS's.

Ive established its not a connection problem, as a program called 'gmail notifier' connects fine.

Im gonna give thunderbird another bash...

Sorted.
Pretty simple problem.
I was putting the pop address as pop3.gmail.com, when it should have been pop.gmail.com.

:p
lol.

Does anyone know a way to import my email folder from outlook into Evolution Email?
I cant find a way to get my assortment of *.dbx files into it.

Thanks. :)
