From what I can see you cant turn this "feature" off? I've recently moved to gmail from hotmail and just cant get used to it! It keeps grouping all my emails together when I need some of them to be seperate. I've searched the web and it seems you cant turn this feature off and have a normal mailbox :(

For all those that dont like it either go here:

https://services.google.com/inquiry/gmail_suggest/

And tick the box suggesting you would like to be able to turn it on or off so everyone is happy

I'd be tempted to go back to hotmail if it offered POP3 or free too!

Before you panic - don't!!

I felt EXACTLY the same way when I moved to Gmail - I couldn't stand the way it grouped things in conversations.

However, now I've realised that it makes far more sense and I much prefer it to any other mail system. Give it a chance - you won't go back!

I hated the grouping at first, but after a while I found it the best and most logical way to do things.

Also, GMail does offer pop.

Personally I'm getting used to it but was hoping to move the parents to gmail as their current address gets loads of spam. Was hoping it could be turned into a "normal" mailbox so they would understand it!!

POP is useful though as outlook should work well! Its a shame really that they havent made it an option yet but the tick box on the comments page gives me hope that they'll bring it in as a feature giving the user a choice which is always best!

Same here, hated it at first but now I just can't stand the traditional linear view of other webmails and most client software. Seems so much more cluttered and superfluous!

The only time I'd like to be able to turn it off would be when checking email from my phone.
