Agreed! Hence my reply to Pea0n's post. He lets rip against the guy yet doesnt even read his posts. Erm? OK.
 
I often refrain from posting my thoughts in many threads due to people jumping down each others throats. Majority mob rule. Closed minds etc.

Allot less hassle and stress in saying nothing.

I have read a few, the ones I have read have had the same common theme thats all, I'm probably being a bit harsh but I can only go by what i see. If all his other threads i havn't read are different then I guess its unfortunate :) I don't usually post in threads liek this, because even though hes asked for an opinion and view, a person gives it,which differs from everyboy elses, and then people jump down their throats instead

This is not a slurr against OCUK, but this forum is certainly the bitchiest of all the forums that i am a member of (and sad as it sounds, that's about 20 now).

I don't remember any of dmpoole's posts to form an opinion, but that doesn't matter. We're all entitled to our opinions. If we get too opinionated with our words, then our posts get modded. Learn from it.
No one person (except mods) is forced to read anothers' thread, so if you think someone is talking bs, then reply back constructively, or at least in the same manner as the op. Or.......just ignore the thread and move on.
Personally i do think its the younger members who attack such posters, because they are a culture where they always think they're right, no matter what, and have little respect for their elders.
Hey, that's my opinion, but i bet some of you totally disagree with it. So what! :)

Everybody is different.

What is the point in everyone having the same opinions & views on life. With maturity comes being wiser but also being younger means having more fire in the belly. If someone feels that they want to shoot a person down then let them get on with it and ignore it & if up for the challenge then give them a bit of their own medicine.

Do you not find that each forum has its own style though? Surely the overall behaviour is a product of the more well known and prevalent members being copied and / or followed, just as it is in any social group? No one forum is going to be the same as another and maybe its the nature of the beast that when you get this many computer savvy or interested individuals together there will be a abundance of sarcasm and ridicule...?

No way lol, there are tons more forums bitchier than this one, with members insulting the hell out of each other all the time.

Yep, totally agree with you Mat. And following on from that, as an I.T. Manager, most of the other forums i belong to are I.T. based as well, but they aren't as cliquey as this one, so yes there is a certain type of culture being bred into certain forums, where the attitudes of influential members has a profound effect on those that follow them.
The thing is, for as many eejit with dumbass flaming posts there are, there are at least as many decent and informative posts and posters on ocuk. But sadly, its the bad ones that get the publicity.

No one knows everything.

Except me, between me and my brother we know everything! :D
 
Some people just can't handle the fact that you may have real experience of certain things that goes against what they've only read about on the internet, don't worry about it.
And anyone childish enough to mail that sort of abuse over something so trivial has the real problem anyway :)
 
This forum is one of the very best when it comes to little flaming, few insults and whathaveyer. Almost every forum I've ever visited (including tech forums) have much more bitchiness than here.
