The reason for only going 17inch is because our office (well girlfriend calls it office, for me it's just where I play games because my PC isn't allowed in the living room) at home is quite small and I have to sit literally about 2 feet from my current monitor which is a 15inch crt, anything bigger and it would start hurting my eyes from sitting so close.

I figure that prices may change a lot by january, but would like a starting point to change and adapt from over the next 2 months, hope that makes sense.

Ummm...I assume PATA, they're definately not SATA, it's a western digital 160GB drive I bought around a year ago. DVD drive is about 3 years old and only 16x
 
@ BillytheImpaler, cheers for that spec mate, however, i'll need a PSU as well ;)

Also, I should have mentioned, I don't mind onboard sound if it's half decent, my current mobo (ASUS PC4800E) has onboard sound and it's excellent.

I'd love a 22inch, but as I mentioned in an earlier post, space is very limited and a big monitor would kill my eyes from just sitting 2 feet away.

What kind of overclock could I expect using that cpu/cooler? It's not a biggie, just more curious than anything.
 
Jesus, didn't realise they clock so high...out of curiosity then, what would a 3Ghz overclock up to on air, not that I can afford it, once again, just wondering ;)
 
lol...posted as I was browsing ocuk main site, saw the Intel Core 2 Quad Extreme Edition QX6850 "LGA775 Kentsfield" 3.00GHz (1333FSB) and wondered what the overclock might be like :D

Glad I found out that handy little snippet, I was eyeballing the 3.0Ghz version and wondering how much more overtime i'd need in order to get it, now I know I don't need to bother, saved me a load of money mate, mucho thanks :D
