Hi.

ATM I have a 160GB HDD, and a GTX 465 (if it makes you feel better, a 460 :))

I want to get the most from gaming, and 465's perform = to 460's in SLI.

But maybe it's enough and I should has a SSD?

Also one more thing, my computer doesn't wake form idle. When I press space I just get a flashing line at top left of the screen.

What motherboard are you using and psu.

I'm SLI modding and I will buy a ne wPSU. I currently have a cheapo (£60 is cheap?) 780w G7 Extreme Power. It only has 2 PCI-E connectors. (Also has no 80 efficiency)

What motherboard are you using :)

With the monitor issue, has this happened recently or for a while, what operating system are you using?

Possibility of doing a fresh install.

ASRock M3A790GXH/USB3

I'm using W7 Ultimate 64 bit and I never use sleep, but when I tried sleep mode a few weeks ago (my first time with the rig) it also did the same thing.

Some 465 flash to a 470 so worth a look to see if u have a flashable card

Buy an ssd will defo he my next purchase for an os drive

I'd say SLI.

SLI: Notice a considerable improvement in games every time you play.

SSD: Smile for a whole month about how fast your computer now boots then forget about it and wish you had more hard drive space.

EDIT: Just noticed RJC's post about your mobo. Ah well. Save up a bit more and do a big rig upgrade?

if your games run fine at the moment on the card you have keep it. SSD was my biggest upgrade and best improvement of performance. Down to what you want though, quicker frame rates and smoother gameplay or quicker boot times, game loading times and everything in general :)

Re your monitor issue.

i had this with a monitor and it could be the monitor. The capacitors overheat apparently and when it refreshes, it has a hissy fit, as you need to turn it off/on to empty the capacitors to get it working properly. (its now a known issue with that monitor type and for the life of me can['t remember what is was., (over a year ago)

Just so you don't write it ou t as a monitor issue.

It's really up to the games you play. For games like WOW, a single GTX 460/465 is sufficient, and you better off get an SSD to seriously boost the loading times. However for games like Crysis, SLI is a must.

SSD is honestly the biggest single improvement i've ever noticed in a PC upgrade (excluding the time many years ago when i went from a P1 to an athlonxp haha)

If the 460 is coping fine in your current games and you don't really badly want the graphics to be prettier (to behonest i see multi gpu as a waste of time for the most part anyway, personal opinion though i guess) then get an SSD :)

I like to play games like Crysis and the upcoming Crysis 2 aswell, and want them maxed.

I will try sleep mode now and edit this post.

EDIT

It's defo not the monitor. None of my USB devices/peripherals would power up either. I have a feeling this has something to do with my insttalling a new motherboard without a clean install.

I made this choice just now, and I decided on crossfire
I see ssd as more of a side grade than upgrade... boot up time benefit but seriously lacking in space
