Go sober in October

Isn't proving to yourself that you can without a drink for a set period of time a sign that you may be an alcoholic? It might be one of those myths but I am not risking it :p

What a terrible website, I can't find anywhere which talks about what gosober is.
But no, I don't drink a huge amount, and got two big Saturday nights planned.

This is a really weird idea... if I drank enough that people thought it was an effort for me to stop for a month, and we're willing to pay me for doing so... I'd be worried.

What an odd campaign.

Surely not having a drink in October isn't even that hard or life changing. Why not pick December at least December would take a small amount of will power for people.

I thought about doing this...........for about 3 seconds.

I'm in no way a problem drinker, but the thought of a whole month without a nice beer horrifies me!

1. Take money saved from not drinking.
2. Donate to charity.
3. Cut out annoying facebook status' begging for sponsorship.
4. ????????
5. PROFIT.

If you look at the top contributor, he is one Mark Mcstay who has a suspiciously high contrast photo and lives in Suffolk.

A quick search revealed this gem: http://www.ismc.org.uk/

In the Koran, "Intoxicants and games of chance" were called "abominations of Satan's handiwork," intended to turn people away from God and forget about prayer, and Muslims were ordered to abstain (5:90-91).

I therefore conclude your site is part of a Muslim conspiracy to change our lifestyle and implement Sharia. I'm surprised you didn't pick it up, scorza...

I will NOT be doing this, for Britain's sake.

I won't be doing this.

I rarely drink anyway normally (can be months between drinks, if I buy beer then it tends to go out of date before I get around to drink it) but I'm away for 3 weeks in October and if you think I'm not going to drink anything then then you are sadly mistaken ....

I've not drank since June :( Anyways, if not drinking is a personal sacrifice worthy of sponsorship then I fear for the participant and would advise taking a closer look at their alcohol consumption.

i just hope it doesnt become a thing, as iv restrained myself from punching preachy middle class dreamers who thinking quitting smoking will make them live forever. last thing we need is being told how having a drink once in a while is knocking days off our lives or some other such nonsense.

I don't drink much anyway so this wouldn't be any kind of a challenge and I doubt anyone would sponsor me for it!
