First heard this term a couple of weeks ago and now it's the Oxford word of the year.

Confession time I ate a yogurt while standing at the fridge yesterday. I didn't make any grunting noises however.

When were you last in goblin mode?

Ha that's funny I thought goblin mode was more 'crazy, lighthearted evil, chaotic, unexpected, weird' rather than 'lazy & self-indulgent' because I'd only heard it in the context of videos of animals acting like that being called 'goblin mode'.

Feel like the definition is already out of step with usage!

Eg this:

I might have gone for 'cope' as word of the year, feel like it got used loads and although annoying can be an effective description.

So it isn't a dowie hole (noun), it is dowie going goblin mode (verb).

Everyday is a school day!

What is this ****? Cabbaging and monging have been around for decades. Why change the name to 'Goblin Mode'?

Offensive innit. Gen Z thing, take something that's been around for decades, get offended by it, then replace it with something else.
