Hey am looking for games where I am the creator, eg something where I start off with a group of people and some resources and can build a city and agriculture and power and so on.

Dont neccesarily want something where the objective is destroy someone else so puts comand and conquer out as played allready.
I have been looking at sid miers Civilisation 4 and Age of empires 3. would these games offer me the above without worrying about being inavaded by the computer while building?

Another one I spotted while browsing game was City life released mid 06 gfx looks good and its all about building and managing a city but it was down at 6 quid so that suggests to me its terrible anyone tried it?

cheers just getting fed up of fps.

Been there done that very good games but im looking for something where I can build giant citys etc, so far shortlist is citylife good reviews sofar. and civilisation 4 and age of empires 3 have u played any of these? get gd reviews for all just wondering what would be among the best or should I just buy them all lol

Civ is an excellent game worth a look. However you could be invaded. Saying that you could set the game on easy and turn a couple of preference off to prevent the attacks.

You might be better off with sim city?

SimCity4 + expansion pack - absolutely brilliant. For something with a more historic feel, CivCity: Rome - not as good as SimCity, but still fun and a lot more simple.

Yeah Sim City sounds like what your looking for mate. Civ4 is an excellent game, but is mainly war based, though as someone said, you can set it to constant peace-time.

Also, its not a city building game per se, more a nation building game, where everything you build within in a certain city affects your civilisation in some way. Gets very resource hungry later in the game also. Its also turn based, so if you spontaneously feel like giving your whole civilisation a face lift, you'll be there a fair while.

a lot of people dont like Civ 4 but I think its a pretty good game, especially with the expansion pack

civcity rome is rubbish, don't bother with that. the ceaser series of games is ok at what you want, although it is a build to achieve objectives kind of thing as opposed to free build. i've not played the new caeser (4) but 3 was excellent a few years ago.

missus had City Life for xmas, i had some trouble getting it to run due to StarForce but got round it.

She really enjoys it, she thinks its a lot better than SimCity 4.

£6!? I paid £24.99 just before xmas. Like i always say, even if a game is terrible, for £6 even if it keeps you busy for 3 hours its money well spent. Hell thats less than 3 pints of lager and should last you longer. :D

SimCity4 is alright but the frame rates are awful even on top systems. I find it highly annoying. Just tried it on my new rig and uninstalled :(
