As for SimCity 4 ?? DONT BOTHER! sure it looks nice but the coding is just terrible... horrid juddering when you zoom in and out, annoying "go to" mode that you just cant turn off, so everytime theres a fire and your in the middle of building something, it drags you straight to that point and zooms you in. so bloody annoying its unreal.

SimCity 3000 for the win, when Maxis was still Maxis and not a vein in EA games black heart.

thanks for all the suggestions folks, just back from town, got city life for 7 quid, and bought age of empires 3 aswell as it sounded good.

Iam looking forward to spore it looks ace and I also got sim city 4 for christmas but hadnt installed it yet.

May I suggest Locomotion. You build up a transport network with trains, buses, lorries, planes and ships.

Quite a strong modding scene with it at http://ttforums.owenrudge.net/ as well.

Should be able to pick it up for under a fiver now. Also RollerCoaster tycoon series by the same guy (Chris Sawyer) is worth a shot.

Sadly less and less god games seem to come out these days.
