I decided to do a little DIY work on my pc case by removing the HDD cage and storeing My HDD's (1x1Tb and 1x500Gb) in the floppy disc bay!...while removing the 500Gb.. i dropped it onto my glass desk..it bounced off smacked the keyboard tray.. bounced off and hit my tool box and flipped onto the hard floor (around 3ft in tota... :).. after i removed the cage and picked up the 500GB hard drive to install it.. i dropped it onto my wooden desk (where i had placed it).. i picked it up and carrid it over to the case..where i once again dropped it onto the glass desk (once again) and it went straight down and hit the floor with a THUMP!!!... THis time i gave it a little shake.. and i heard a rattle -_-... anyways After installing it.. it still worked :D .. Random post lol just cracked me up! Im allways careful with Pc parts..but this time i could NOT keep hold of this one HDD :S.. Good old seagate!!

Try doing that while it's running and see if it stays working ;)

The non operating shock tolerances for HDDs are pretty decent these days (mainly since the demise of glass platters) - WD lists 300G for 2ms. To put that into perspective a deceleration of ~100G will kill a human.

It was interesting til I realised it wasn't on at the time.

I was using an external drive to transfer stuff, knocked it off the table onto the tiles, less than 1m down.

Dead. Ticks to itself then goes quiet now.

Therefore there is no god.

AH okay then my bad lol Ive seen SO many people saying about drpping there hard drives onto there desk 6-7 inches down and it not working any more (turned off) lol

P.s i swear i am careful! :P.. just after the first time i dropped it i kind of thought **** it i cant be arsed lol
