Thats cool, keep them coming, will look into a data card but not sure if I have access to even a landline!! possibly will through one of those card/pin number things - will it work with that?

The data card works like a mobile. you dont need a landline at all. I would check out wether or not the place your going has 3g coverage though, most providers have a postcode search on their sites.

Really? how come?
Why would it be legal? Just because a company has stopped selling or supporting a piece of software doesn't mean they lose their copyright on it. Only if the copyright owner has specifically said it's free to distribute is it legal to download.

 Getting all confused

Do you need a mobile signal - as there isnt any! If not how does it work?

yes you need a mobile signal. It's a card that plugs into your PCMCIA slot and has a sim inserted to connect you to the network.

Take a Civilisation game, 3 being my favourite. Endlessly re-playable and constantly challenging with lots of difficulty settings to keep you on your toes.

Civ 3 with its expansion which improved things a great deal would be my desert island game.

off to stop close to antartica for a bit! so no mobile, landline etc. Sat phones only and the expense of internet is tooo much. (I will have 10 mins a day to check out the forums and email though :D )

Not if they've collapsed I don't think. I could be very wrong :D
Chances are someone will own the copyright even if the company that made it no longer exists.

You could check out revolution.co.uk they've released Beneath a Steel Sky and Lure of the Temptress for free. Also there are a few old games on 3DRealms.com that are now freeware.
