Going away with work for a while. No Internet..

Some good suggestions guys. I think I might have to buy Monkey Island and Broken Sword games because I loved them back in the day.

Is Grim Fandango available still? I always fancied that but never played it.

Check GOG.com out, might be available on there. You've also games like Dungeon Keeper 1/2 and Syndicate.

You've also got newer games along the same lines:

The Wolf Among us
Walking dead

I looked at Gog but there was no grim fandango. The search led me to find its been remastered and is coming out in January. Which is pretty great news :-).

I need to get hold of the second season of The Walking Dead as I've completed the first. I've also completed Wolf among us.

Civ is gonna get another go as previously I've just given it ten minutes and got bored. So many people play and recommend it so I just need to give it a chance. I'll get them guides someone mentioned to hopefully start me off better as I was pretty clueless.

The steam sale is likely to take a hammering this year.

Fallout 3 & Fallout NV would get my vote, there's at least 50 hours worth per game if you do loads of side missions and get exploring.

Kerbal Space Program.
Sandbox space simulator, build your own rockets, planes, probes, rovers...
With over 20 planets too reach + explore, your guaranteed to sink hundreds of hours into it.
- Limited Demo or £22.99 on steam..

Then Story Games/Series:
Tomb Raider (2013)
Half Life.
Portal.
Bioshock.
Max Payne.
COD MW (1-3)

You should give Anno 2070 a try,its an awesome timesink.
Its not on deal anywhere currently tho i dont think(often £5 in steam sales however)

Anno 1404 is £8 on steam atm,its overall a better game,at least if your an longtime anno player. But either one is excellent :D

If you have a ps vita, pick up some of the older ps 1 final fantasy games for it. As for pc games to play offline, Kerbal Space Program, Civilization, Banished, Mount and Blade Warband

Forgot to mention FTL, a game of it can be very quick, but it is very replayable and has dark souls levels of failure addiction.

Standard recommendation for Star Wars KOTOR 1 + 2 if you haven't played them. I have only fiddled with one a little bit but they seem like big time sinks.

My personal go to game here is Uplink. No laptop is complete without it!

Also Cave Story.

Does Ubisoft not still require a permanent connection to stay within this game?
Was that patched out of it at some point?

Gal civ II if you want a great time sink against an AI level you set, and can be a trixity little hobbitses when it wants to be.

Unless I have missed it, What is your Laptop capable of running?

If that isn't a limitation plenty of great suggestions.

Bioshock series are great plus they can be had for cheap.
Crysis 3 is currently £2.99 on Origin.

If your a football fan FM2015 would be great and very time consuming to pass time.

Laptop is pretty high end (870m) so most games play perfectly at 1080p.

Bioshock Infinite I completed and thought was decent. I loved the art style of 1 and 2 but I never completed either for some reason. They just didnt seem to click with me.

Ive got Crysis 1 and 2 so 3 is probably a decent shout. Especially at that price.

A lot of the suggestions are games I probably wouldnt touch if I was at home (as DOTA2 would be a more appealing choice) however when Im away with no internet and living a pretty lonely life in a dated room, I find myself a lot more capable of sticking with games :)
