Since moving to the latest NV drivers my system stability has dropped off the bottom of the scale! :(

Even after a safe mode boot, driver sweeper, and re-install of the drivers that came with the cards (that were stable!) i get crashes prior to opening any apps!

Clearly one of the crashes has corrupted Win7 in some way.

Not amused.

TBH although very fast i wish i'd never bothered with SLi.

Never had ANY trouble in the past with numerous single card setups.

Cards work fine in non-sli setup, and on certain drivers in my PC. How much would my MSI 1GB 460 cyclones be worth?

Currently £150ish (each) new
Could i get £100ish (each) second hand (mint in boxes)? :(

If your getting crashes before opening apps even it would suggest failing system RAM or unstable CPU overclock.

Its not overclocked anymore. Was OcUK 4GHz kit but has been running at 2.66GHz (std clock) since the last rebuild (when i flashed the mobo bios, to get the SLi stable at the time). I can't get the CPU overclocked at all these days. Even using the same OcUK settings! :(

Have you checked your RAM using memtest, to see if 1 of your sticks is faulty?

No. Will look into it.

Cheers

Also, since it sounds like your bios has reset, did you overvolt your RAM again? I think on my board default it had the RAM voltage as 1.40, which made it crash when the RAM is rated at 1.64, so I had to up it to 1.65 to stop it.

Just another thing to check I guess.

Interesting.:)

RAM was overvolted to support the increase in speed to achieve the CPU o/c. But its all at std / default settings now. Will look into it tonight. If that is the problem (which kinda makes sense) i'll be VERY happy! But i fear its unconnected as system stability should be good as memory voltage has not changed in months. All i did was go to the latest NV driver which appears to conflict with something, and resultant crashes have screwed up Win7.

Thanks for the ideas tho. Will check the mem tonight and try overvolting it.:)

ive never had any problems with my sli setup none wot so ever:)im loving it games are class for me ...

Check your 24 pin power connector to your mobo. My pc was unstable and kept dying, even when I put it back to default speeds.

Turned out the yellow lead on the 24 pin power connector had melted and there were two brown burn marks in the socket on the mobo.

My psu was a Seasonic 850W and should have been enough for my two gtx470's and my overclocked i7 but something went wrong.

Worth checking just in case.

I recently moved the rig into a new case (Coolermaster HAF) to get temps down a bit and tidy the wiring. Connectors were visibly fine, but thanks for the suggestion.:)

This is the first time ever i've been stumped in 20 years of home PC building. Dissapointing. :(

But first SLi / Xfire setup too.

Something is a miss somewhere, but as its intermittent its a royal pain to diagnose. IMO def gfx related hence the move to a different single GFX solution.

Its either GFX or something has died since the SLi was added. But its not heat / power as it happens in windows in IDLE from cold in a case with GOOD airflow (with no o/c on anything).

Also when working (which was 99% of the time) it can be stress tested 100%OK via Furmark / Heaven.

Only thing that did happen is the rig ran a bit hot (not crashing but was hot) for a while after the SLi was added. Hence the moved to a better case. Its either cooked something or its the GFX cards. Yet the fault is intermittent and apparently triggered by drivers. Utterly confused.

Yet the fault is intermittent and apparently triggered by drivers. Utterly confused.

It may (and quite frequently is) the other way around - the drivers are the first visible sign of the failure due to the GPU being a real time, intensive device sensitive to instability in the system - changing drivers can sometimes mean it works very slightly differently and "dodges" the bullet so to speak - sometimes manifesting as an intermittent fault with another part of the system or going completely undetected. NV4/ATI2DVAG, etc. BSOD are more often not actually a videocard problem than they are.

No solution as yet either

"Hey guys,

I just wanted to pop into this thread and let everyone know that we are definitely aware of the complaints and are looking into the issue. I realize that within the context of the forum this seems like a common or obvious problem, but we have not yet been able to reproduce it in our labs. This has been a high volume series of cards, yet our partners have not reported any unusual return rates. We also haven't seen this issue on the NVIDIA designed and built cards that we sell and support directly.

I understand this is frustrating to those that are having an issue. We will definitely keep trying to reproduce this issue and if we can identify a root cause that is within our control we will do our best to fix it as soon as we can.

Thanks, for your patience,

Joyous!

Thinking of buying a GTX 480 from OcUK before the current £208 deal (this week only) runs out.

Thoughts?

Will sell the 2 * 460 to get almost £200 back (hopefully).
