A couple days a go I found an old IDE hard drive (in my dining room, of all places) in the form of a WD RE 320gb. It was waiting to be chucked out for months untill it hit me that it might still have warranty left on it.... it does, until the end of 2011!
So yesterday my computer spent most of it's time doing diagnostic tests, writing zero's and low-level formatting to see how much life is in it incase I had to RMA it.
Everything went perfectly, I knew there was a reason I stuck with WD drives! The same couldn't be said for a SATA Samsung Spinpoint I also found laying around which was half it's age. Full of bad sectors!
Did a HD Tune benchmark on it:
Now to find a matching drive and raid0 them.
