Maybe in the olden days or at the bleeding edge (e.g. brand new graphics cards), but personally never had any issues.
My work pc has 3 sets of graphics drivers installed, for the AMD 260x, NV GT710 and Intel onboard - not once had an issue.
As mentioned above, I've had to do win10 resets for people who've run a cropper of driver issues not uninstalling and refusing to install new. Your sample size of one (with 4 generation old hardware to boot) is very nice, but it doesn't blanket apply to everyone.
DDU doesnt just do the same as the uninstaller as you use DDU AFTER uninstalling so it would have nothing to do. The fact is AMD driver uninstall leaves behind big chunks of files that can cause problems and even prevent newer versions of AMD drivers from installing.
