Going from Nvidia to AMD

Hello!

I received my R9 290 today to replace my GTX 770. I've installed the card and it seems to be working fine. All I did software wise was uninstall EVGA Precision X, install Catalyst and update.

One thing I noticed is that when I tried AMD's own autodetect tool, it said that it was unable to detect my OS or GPU.

Has anyone else had this? Seems a bit odd that AMD software can't detect AMD hardware.

It's nothing major, the card's working fine, just thought I'd ask.

Didn't you do a full uninstall of the nvidia drivers?
I'd recommend using driver sweeper.

As long as you can see a boost in performance, then I wouldn't be concerned. I only use programs like driver sweeper / cleaner, and so on, when I have to. All you should need to do in almost all situations is to :

Uninstall old driver - power down machine - remove older video card & install new card - boot up machine - install most recent driver and away you go.

It does that for me to, just download the 13.12 driver and you should be set, ro enter your specs manually on the website from the drop downs.

I wouldnt use driver sweeper any longer. DDU does a better job and offers several uninstall options and works everytime, all the time. http://www.wagnardmobile.com/DDU/ . This is perhaps a question of personal taste and preference but i have yet to see it sc**w with my system.

yep +1 use it myself, very good and removes registry entries aswel as files and folders
