Going raid 0 over single raptor

I currently have a 74 gig raptor the older ones sata 1 and 16mb cache, i have been tempted to either try getting another and going raid on those( expensive though) or for example getting a couple of those and selling the raptor on.

I was wondering what peoples experience with going raid, does it really make that much noticeable difference and which option would be better for me.
 
It does make a difference, but I would say as drives are getting faster and faster it makes less difference than it used too in the bad old days.

Personally now for an OS drive I'd start considering SSD's.
 
Does this mean even if i went raid on 2x 7200rpm sata2 drives as my raptor is only sata 1, i wouldn't really notice much difference and seek would be much slower.
 
SEEK goes up as you Raid (even though some will try claim it doesn't).

So the SEEK on any 7.2K HDD is slower to start with its more slower in Raid0.
 
Looks to me that raid-0 is way over rated then, maybe for data transfer its good but is it really needed.
 
That site is a joke these days.

I say what I said the other day, DO NOT believe everything you read on the internet esp review sites, read real peeps input and try it yourself.

I have avoided that crap site since the lies about PureVideo on the 6800Ultra back in 2004 and I know others here more recently **** them off also.

I also know that most peeps who talk down Raid0 have never even ran it and are clueless.

i went from raptor 74gb raid 0, to a single 640gb Blue drive

the only difference i notice is it's not as quick to respond if i'm copying files and loading a game at the same time

i'm still first into every TF2 map that I play
 
Set then up and all seems to be working ok i did set it up with a 128k stripe, should i have used a smaller one ?
 
Recently seup a raid0 array with 2 74gb 16mb cache raptors, quite impressed with the performance even on older drives like theese.
