Going rate for ZX12s

I was looking at these last month and I'd agree they're really affordable now. Very quick bike for not a lot of cash.

I pressume you're talking about the green one at 13k miles? Looks like a genuine advert. It's worth a look at least.

The problem with these is I think I'd loose my license too easily.

Brakes and suspension are crap on them in my opinion of course :p but theyre a damn quick bike for £3k ;)

I would not recommend one for anyone new to riding lol, or weak neck muscles!

Prices seem about right. I paid £4395 for mine, a 2004 but only 3800 miles, about 6 months ago.

Absolutely love the bike to be honest - handling is massively improved by fitting 190 section tyres instead of the stock 200's. Its the best handling bike of the hyperbikes. Brakes aren't the best compared to say, my GSXR750, but they aren't terrible. I'll probably put some braided hoses and better pads on later this year.

Best thing about the bike is that its a better allrounder than the latest litre sportsbikes. I went for a trip around the dales yesterday, 135 miles all on b roads and quite a few bumpy unclassifieds, with a mate on a bmw1200GS. This ride was utter torture on my gixxer, but the 12 handled it fine - the suspension is just a bit plusher, and the riding position less extreme, but when you want to thrash the hell out of it it will do that too, and in a big angry kawasaki way that most other bikes just cant match for adreneline!

Its fairly light too - about the same as a VFR800 but with another 70bhp or so :) Only downside is fuel consumption, which ranges from about 28 to 35mpg, giving a tank range of 100 - 140 miles. Light usually starts flashing at about 120.

I've only been riding for a year and a half on a zzr600 - is this still considered new to riding? :p

Very tempted to get one for my next bike though.

I pinned it back through the first 4 gears within 5 minutes of getting it :D (in a massive straight bit of empty private road obviously!).

I'm used to the speed now hence looking for bigger and better bikes - it's a bit of a massive jump though.

Mental how these have dropped in price.
I suppose the more modern and faster (hypothetically) metal have really hit their values hard.
Eck of a bike though.

Is this a standard zx12r?

If it is, no wunder they are so cheap, so many people must have **** themselves after one ride and just want rid of it :D
They must be a nightmare to ride and keep within the speedlimit!

Looks stock rate of accel to me... to be honest all the latest big bore sports bikes accel like this, but you cant beat analog speedo swinging round like that.

The thing about the 12 is though it's quite old it can still keep pace with the latest litre bikes in a straight line, epsecially once well into 3 figures. They just pull and pull, not a wave of torque like a Busa, but once revs up you never EVER get used to it.

Also no other bike has the road presence, they are huge, but still ride like a sports bike, comfy as well.

you would be fine from a ZZR to a ZX12, it will feel like a total missle if you pin it, but it's a docile old lady if you keep the revs down... no more scary than your ZZR and a lot more roomy.

I sense an excuse for some photo pimpage!

Go on....you know you want to ;)

*fappage* Saves me having to hunt for pr0n later :D

That ramair vent looks a lot better from the front actually. More blended in that it looks from a side on angle.

Mines the B model, which has a more integrated ram air scoop. The A models are a bit ungainly at the front, but you wont care about that when you're riding it :)

Got to have pretty long legs though and mine just don't cut it, I've got the 9R and the ZX12 is quite similar to the F2's...just through a magnifying glass..everything is just that bit bigger and I'm tippy toes on one. Still, it's probably the only sportsbike out there that would really suit a six foot four feller so has to be applauded for that.
The early ones have got the Tokico six pots, no feel whatsoever and a swine to bleed, though, ultimately strong enough and they've all got a pretty unsophisticated rear shock (if you are not over 13st and don't take pillions the 10R one fits and is much better, if you are big it would be wise to go for an aftermarket unit, standard you can set them up for comfort...or..performance, just not both).
Go cheap these days, power delivery is downright frightening and I'm used to 140 rwhp, it's the way it's made..with a massive dollop of torque. Last one I rode I just got confused once I hit 10k, scrambled my bloody brains a bit lol.
Going to be strong as an ox too if the usual kawa motors are anything to go by, plus the fact the redline will be uncharted territory to the vast majority of owners.

be a man, go naked :P

fully faired sports bikes are still the most pointless things on 2 wheels in the UK unless you go up and down a motorway all day :D

the S3 still has to be the most suitable bike for the UK, huge grunt, will give you a boner at 100 paces with a full arrow exhaust system, 149mph (for those of you who actually have neck muscles), and people won't call you a power ranger your whole life :P

I like the Speed Triples (and tuono's) but I wouldnt want to tour France on one. For 400 mile days+ you need a fairing.....or at least I do!

Thats a very good description! It just goes mental at 9k+ and your senses do struggle to keep up. Exciting in short bursts though! Whats plain strange is the way the bike pulls from 100mph in the same way most bikes, at least 600/750's pull TO 100mph

Reckon that would beat a Veyron to 100?
