Going through a strange phase

The entire "Cherry Pie" album is really good (with the exception of "Love in Stereo" IMO) and I love the way that several of the songs dove-tail to become the story of a doomed relationship ("Blind Faith" and "I saw red").

WASP's "The Crimson Idol" is superb too. It's basically a great narrative story, told through excellent metal tunes. The title track is amazing.

Ugh, you bunch of snobs. I got tired of rock music and have moved over to rap lately. Some modern stuff but mostly 80s golden age hip hop. There's good music in all genres, and you're only hurting yourself by limiting yourself to one genre.

OP - I can satisfy both your tastes with rap/rock mashups :D More Than On Point (House of Pain vs Boston) springs readily to mind. Tricky Sandman (Run DMC vs Metallica) is another good one. I'll post some more later.

Hah, snob! That's pretty funny.

Where did I say I only listened to rock

I took that comment as a light hearted one and it made me laugh, not to say I only listen to one genre. There is nothing superior whether you listen to one genre or ten, you like what you like.

I like everything from blues to metal, so a wide range I would say.

Oh look everyone, someone who thinks his taste is superior because he's expanded and evolved into other genres! Point and laugh! Point and laugh.

I never said anything about it being superior. Are you perhaps feeling inferior? I only said that it's stupid to dismiss an entire genre of music out of hand. And I only mentioned my progression of tastes because it contrasted with the OPs - he's gone from r&b to rock and I have gone in much the opposite direction.

Yeah,
I would recommend all of the above in thread.
You might want to check the daddy of contemporary rock imho...Led Zepplin.

They are a great stepping off point for rock and cover huge swathes of the rock genre.

Grunge/ have a look at Soundgarden and Pearl Jam.
Their sound has a mature sonic.

Nu metal..Deftones, a group with rock, electronica influences. Their album adrenaline and White pony are solid listens..

Funny, I'm going back over hip-hop genre and finding some gems. Currently loving the following:
Lupe fiasco
Common
Talib qwali
Mos def
Mc Solaar
Wu tang clan

Enjoy

Snob? Haha! It was a light hearted comment and I can assure you that my musical tastes are pretty far ranging.

Fwiw, I used to listen to nothing but hiphop/rap/RnB - Back when those genres were actually good and had real content.
There is still some decent stuff to be found if you dig deep, but most of it today is pure arse. Just self absorbed *******s going on about themselves and how great they are in as crass a manner as possible. It's for kids and those who don't know any better IMO.

Like you say, golden age stuff is where it's at. I wasn't dismissing an entire genre of music.

Random classic for you :)

Defo still good stuff about

:)

But yeah I notice as I get older i start to like more types of music. I like a bit of everything now to be honest

Yeah, there's still good stuff about if you look for it.
Over the last couple of years there has been a gradual push towards decent content as I think a lot of people got sick of the gangsta/bitches crap.
