Next door has been having some block paving done so we asked them to quote us for a path down the side of our house , in fact we have asked 3 times for a quote

I get home form work and the job has been done

now I assume he is going to want paying for this but I have never asked for the work to be started or agreed a price

any suggestions on how to deal with this because t be truthful I only asked in case he was exceptionally cheap and am perfectly prepared to have him take it all back up if the price doesn't suit

I assume that legally I am in a strong position here

Are they a reputable firm or not? if they are then im sure they will be shocked at the misunderstading and sort it out. If not then you may be in for some fun!!

I reckon it's 2 blokes doing a job on the side as they don't turn up till late afternoon

it is possible that my next door neighbour has authorised it and will pay ( he did this when he had some fencing/gates done ) but he isn't in at the moment

reckon I will make a note of the company name on the side of the JCB ( probably their legit employer ) , might come in handy :p

In that case id be cautious about how to handle it. They COULD be heavys of the type that will burn your car out or such if they get annoyed.

just been out and spoke to him , apparantly my neighnour has paid for all the stuff that is in public view ( my path included ) and he says I owe him £80 for the extra bit ( about 100 blocks ) so I suppose that sounds reasonable

it's tricky.

i believe that you will need to pay him quantum meruit payment, a fair price for the work carried out. the courts would decide a figure if you cannot agree and price.

i may well be wrong, any legal people in here today?
