Hi all,

So it looks like my motherboard is on the fritz, the system is hanging when trying to recognise my SSD, I've tested the SSD in another system and it boots to windows fine so it looks like it the motherboard may be on the way out.

Now I know that Haswell is coming soon but unfortunately I may have to upgrade now to Ivy-bridge.

Can someone recommend me a new build with a max budget of £600.

I already have an 850w XFX black edition PSU and my Gigabyte 7970 so I don't need either of those. I'd like to fit it into a bitfenix shinobi or a bitfenix prodigy

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I was considering picking up a motherboard for my x58 but it seems like its wasted cash as there as expensive if not more expensive than a z77 mobo

So you basically just need cpu/mobo/ram? Or do you need a whole system apart from GPU and PSU?

What about a cooler?

cpu/mobo/ram and a nice new case and what ever is left from the budget to get a larger SSD really just.

Cooler wise I'd like to get a AIO water one but it depends on budget

Good idea to post up your final build before order just in case you've made any mistakes, happens to the best of us :p

Yeah its happned to me before :P

I'm trying to reinstall windows onto my HDD since I'd like to hold of for haswell if I could, or ivybridge-e

Intel Core i7-3770... 1
Gigabyte Z77N-WIFI... 1
Corsair XMS3 16GB ... 1
BitFenix Prodigy M... 1
Subtotal £538.91

How does that look? I'm going to pick up the SSD at some stage down the line.

I really begrudge buying ivy-bridge now as Haswell is so soon but I need a pc :(

Will be plenty of people scavenging round for IB CPUs when Haswell drops ;)

I doubt performance will be a jaw dropper anyway

Haswell will be just like going from Sandy to Ivy I think, not really worth it unless you're making a new build. Depends how well they clock, they need to start using solder again instead of TIM.

Thats true and I'm assuming that haswell will just use DDR3 like Ivy-bridge so I could just sell the CPU + mobo and get a haswell one.

Ok now just to decide wither or not to get the prodigy or a bigger case

Haswell is a whole new architecture. Reports saying around a 7% increase on Ivy, so nothing to be sniffed at.

And what you've posted gill is O.K, but no cooler?
