going to install windows 8

This might surprise a few people but I really don't see any need for a start menu replacement, it's already there, it just happens to use the full screen instead of a small section of it...

Only "tweak" i know if is to make sure you install it using UEFI boot rather than standard (which creates a total of 4 partitions rather than the 2 we're used to seeing for windows 7) if that makes sense. (no idea if this is specific to newer motherboards or just any UEFI based motherboard)

why? whats the benefits?

Like any tweak, barely anything...just seems to boot a bit quicker. (and like most tweaks "a bit" = "barely noticeable" :p)

No idea if there's any other positives but i presume it's considered best practice to do it that way when it's supported on the newer tech.

bad advice..

not at all. he asked what tweaks people were using, i told him what i use....i think you will find its what he asked ;)

i hate the metro screen, tried it through beta, then tried it on release, i hated it then, hate it now, i still dont see the point in it (other than for tablets of course)

In essence rather than spend your time installing extra programs ('tweaks'), spend your time leaning the intuitive additions to Windows 8.

For example work using the 'four corners' of the UI and you'll find everything you need is very easy to find.
