Going to Japan

Im probably going to Japan for a couple weeks in april or may, but as ive never been i had some questions for anyone who has ?

Gonna fly to tokyo and stay there for a few days but i wanna take the Shinkansen to Osaka. Does anyone know how much roughly it would be? ive tried googling but i dont get much up ;\

Also, anyone reccomend any hotels in both places? if you have been
