I’m coming to London for a long weekend next week to see Foo Fighters @ Wembley and I’m looking for some advice on what to do in London apart from shopping!

I’ve already done the typical river cruise and The London Eye. What else is worth going to see and do? I’m staying in Kensington so I’m pretty central, also can anyone also recommend some nice but well priced restaurants in London too?

Well I'd recommend a visit to the Tate Modern, not really for the art but for the building it has an unbelievable cathedral like feeling! (please note I'm an architecture student so have a bit of a thing for nice buildings).

Last time I was in London a group of us ate in a little place called "Palm Court" or something similar, the food was the best I had that week in London. I dunno how it compares to the general standard down there though. Certainly the best Tiger Prawns Ive had in a long time, two courses plus drinks cost me about 35 quid. Oh and its just of Covent Garden.

GO to canary wharf just for the OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO factor.

Oxford street for some shopping, although shop around covent garden, much nicer and less people.

Look at all the posh people in kensington, very very very posh around there.

loads of things to do and can't think of anymore off the top of my head.

You can walk the majority of London sites easily if you have a few hours to burn and takea camera with you as you will see lots of interesting sites/people/cars/occurrences!

I've been a few times now to visit family and we've been on site seeing walks from city centre all te way round Picadilly/Leicester Square/Chinatown/Hide Park and various markets in between them!

It's probably faster walking too than taking bus/car as you end up wasting 45mins easily just to travel 3-4 miles!

The national history museum has some good exhibitions and its best of all its free!

You mean natural history museum? This is good to visit and is in Kensington along with the Science museum and that's free too. Also why not pop into Harrods and marvel at all the ridiculous expensive stuff you can't buy then suddenly wander into HMV and get all confused!

As a Musilm, We don't like your kind in London :p

Tower of London = instant win. No two ways about it. Best historical monument in London.
Screw the art galleries n stuff.

British Museum= An entire day well spent.

Challenge yourself and see if you can 'break in' to UCL or LSE :)

Other than that enjoy yourself and watch your wallet !

If you haven't seen them live before then you're in a for a treat, they are awesome live :)

This :) I went to an acoustic performance of them back in 2006 at the smaller Apollo theatre with Scott Matthews supporting, was FAN-TASTIC

Covent Garden, Yo Sushi, Hamleys, St Jame's Park, National Gallery Any of the free Museums ^__^

a good walk is to go to covent garden, then to leicester square. rom there walk down to Trafalgar Square, then down the Mall to Windsor Castle - stopping to see the change of guards at St James' Palace (timing important).

From the palace, either cut through the park, or walk down birdcage to westminster cathedral and houses of parliament. If you fancy more walking (this isnt that far, and is enjoyable in good weather, take a walk along the thames (north or south bank) or take a walk through the City.

It really isnt that far, and is great to see the sights...

EDIT: Mango Tree is a nice restaurant in the Victoria area - not a million miles away: http://www.mangotree.org.uk/

I wouldn't follow his advice and walk to Windsor castle from Trafalgar Square if I were you... ;)
