So the "plan" is to walk in ask for <male name> or <female name> and then ask them for an application form.

But if they say "oh i'm <Whichever name>" Should I shake hands and say i'm blah blah blah i've come for an application form then ask general questions about the job?

or should i just take the form and run away laughing?

Whats your head say?

I'd say ask and be polite and inquire further if the opportunity presents itself, be confident but not overly confident.

Just say "Hi, I'm <insert name>, I saw the job advertised and it advised to see you for a application form" with a big friendly smile :)

They'll either just hand over the form or start talking to you - then you just go with the flow :)

I think to be honest your average boozer will not have application forms to hand out...

Unless of course you're going to be walking in to a Wetherspoons pub or something similar (i.e. large chain)

Just go in and ask to have a chat with the manager/supervisor/chargehand

The job advertisment says "go round to employer for a/f, ask for stuart or liz"

But it isnt a large chain or anything, just your normal hotel/pub/thing

Personally, I would go round to employer for a/f, and ask for stuart or liz.

But maybe I'm wierd like that...

EDIT: Sorry, that was a bit sarcastic.

Just go and ask for Stuart/Liz and take the situation as it is. There is no right or wrong answer. If they come out, throw the form at you then run away, then you should run away also. If they come out, offer to shake your hand and start asking questions, then engage them in a conversation.

Just be confident and manage the situation as it developes.

I expect they will ask if you have had any experience, so get ready for that :p

Otherwise they must just hand the form to you and that will be that. Just be prepared :)

Indeed. And if not, tell them that you learn quickly. Be confidient and proactive. Bar work ain't rocket science, so basically, if they like you and you 'fit in', there's a fair chance they will hire you. Unless it is Hooters.

bar jobs always strike fear into my heart, i would be very nervous working behind one

Pft.

I have a stutter and I worked behind a bar for 18 months. I loved it and want another bar job!

This could be tricky - you had better plan out what will be said and rehearse it carefully.

If by some fluke they should say something you had not planned just run out.

well I went down about 3 and liz/stuart wasnt there.

So I went back about 4 and liz was there, she said the position had been filled but took my name, phone number and date of birth.

She said the person who they employed was on a trial so it depends how that goes.

I think i'll pop back on monday with a CV.

Does anyone have a CV tailored to bar work?

I've never pulled a pint but i've worked in a shop and delt with money/change etc before.
