Going to start fallout 3 again. How should i start? good or bad?

Have to be honest every time i've aimed for a good/bad karma (i mean totally one sided) half way thru i "forget" and just play a random session and mess it up.

I really need to start multi saving...

How about just playing "neutrally", i.e. neither good nor bad. That's what I did, I just assessed every situation on merit. I played KOTOR pretty much the same way too.

As mentioned Fawkes is very good, he never seems to die and you can use him as a mule too.

Not even close, Fawkes is Good Karma and he's easily the best follower (albeit very late in the main quest). Who can say no to an almost indestructable follower wielding a Gatling Laser?

That was true, now dogmeat is stronger as he levels with you with disproportionate stats . He could probably solo 2 super mutant overlords equipped with tri beam lasers

Thats assuming you got him after you got the broken steel addon, if not hes just regular old dogmeat.
