Hi guys,

Will be ordering some tickets tomorrow for a Wednesday flight and was wondering if anything would be required such as jabs or any other requirements..

Thanks :)

I say avoid the Tokyo Tower. It's an overpriced tourist-trap with huge queues. Much better is the Mori Tower in Roppingi Hills. Higher (view - I think), smarter, better and you'll get to see some great art too. Plus you get to go in a lift that has only two stops - the ground and floor #52 . From the Mori Tower, on a grey day...

Definitely go see the Tokyo Tower from the ground, but I wouldn't bother going up it.

As for the OP; yep, no visa or jabs required.

Buy a unlimited travel ticket for the metro!

and then go to Asuksa Shrine, it's way cool and you can get your fortune there and have all your bad like blown away in the wind :D

then go and watch people play Pachinko and tell me what the hell is all the fuss about?

No, you don't need a passport if you are there for less than 90 days. I was there end of march beginning of april and they are fine. Had a layover in sri lanka on the way out which was fun, think i'll fly direct next time!

Some really great things to be seen out there, have to experience the arcade...and the toilets! hehe. I managed to get out of Tokyo and went to see Kyoto and Osaka, which was amazing. I didn't half feel out of place at times, being a tall white guy surrounded by japanese people. There are no westerners outside of Tokyo that I saw, and only in a couple of places in Tokyo.

Took so many pictures, had a wonder round a pachinko place, but then I had to leave, starts making your ears ring eventually. Really enjoyed it, and just to confirm what others have said, no injections etc needed.

To the chap a couple of posts up, I went up the Tokyo tower, though only to the first level-bit, went up just after the sun had set, so managed to get some awesome pictures of tokyo at night, but I agree it was expensive, but then so is everything else in Japan!

Have a good time!

EDIT: Woops, obviously you need a passport, silly typo on my part, I meant you don't need a visa. Obviously you need a passport to leave the country. Thanks for pointing that out, feel a little silly now :o

I went this time last year and it was great.

Agreed the Tokyo Tower is overrated, although I'd pop along at see it at night as it's quite cool. Also go up to the Park Hyatt and have a drink in the bar that's stupidly high up.

I spent 4 days there, then a week in Kagoshima, then another 2 days in Tokyo before coming home. There were no westerners in Kagoshima bar me and my mate, it was weird with everyone staring at you, the school kids loved it though (he was teaching over there, I went over to visit and helped out) :)

Spent the first days in Tokyo in a capsule hotel in Akihabara, then went soft and got a hotel for the tail end 2 days there that was right near the tower.

Won about £250 in Pachinko while I was killing time one night :P

Also had one of the best nights ever clubbing in Womb, awesome night it was.

I'd highly recommend a trip to Mount Fuji and do the ascent overnight :)

I can't wait to go back.

If you dont need a passport to enter, then it's sorted. However , to play safe, you bring your passport along. If you require visa, im sure in the airport there, there is a Visa counter for you to apply on the spot.

Well its booked for Tuesday for a week. Cannot wait :)

Will be changing £400 for spending money. Would there be a problem bringing stuff back?

Is purchasing train tickets easy or is it all in Japanese?
