...and squeeze some juice out of this, upgrading in February so wanting to practice a bit of OCing. I've read up on the basics etc. and IIRC the Athlon 64s were reasonable for getting at least a bit of extra power out of it. Now my board is a GA-K8NF-9 with 2 x 512mb basic crucial value sticks in it, so obviously I don't expect too much, but I was wondering what sort of clock i'm likely to squeeze out of this? Got a freezer 64 on it too btw.

this is what I'm getting with prime 95 running:

So any further tips or info (apart fro mthe stickies ;) )appreciated

I've been told that AMDs are nowt like Intels when it comes to OCing. But I had a good go with mine (I know mines a different chip but still).
I got a 333mhz OC with a 0.1v Vcore increase and increasing FSB to 222.

Peeps said that was a good AMD overclock, so that may be of use to you? Maybe not.:D

Any info is better than nothing :) I know Intels are different to AMD in the process, but i've never OCd anything in my life yet (although I feel bad for admitting it ;) ) but any practice is good!

Oh btw that OC I did was last week and my first one ever, after thinking about wanting to do it for years - peeps on here very helpful and its pretty easy to pick up. Just keep an eye on your temps - under load. I have the Arctic Freezer Pro too - should serve you very well sir!

I have a 3700+ @ 2.8ghz, I also have 4X512mb sticks of cheap ram and a foxconn mobo (which was given to me :p), I really want 3ghz but it won't go any higher :( this is also all prime 7hours+ stable. Bear in mind this is my first overclock.

I know it's different, but hopefully you should be able to get 2.6ish.

Sorry, i didn't look at the pic.
I had a gigabyte board, think it was the same as yours but with an opty 144. It wouldn't go higher than 220 fsb until i dropped the HTT to x2. It would also boot with an overclock but not reboot with the same clock. I put a fan over the passive cooler on the MB and it worked fine then at 278.
Just clock it and test it, add some more volts and watch your temps.

Aye i'll probably give it a go tonight, puity when I bought mine they released the venice cores, i believe, about 3 weeks after >.< unfortunatly I couldn't have waited sooo hey. Even if I can squeeze a little out of it it's better than nothing. :) I'll have a go tonight and post back some results.

OK well I tried tonight, managed to get it stable at 210 x 11. tried 215 x 11 and it just hung before POST. I know temps weren't an issue, was less than 45 still while stress testing. I lowered the RAM to run at 166 mhz, and the HTT to 4x. I assume thats right and the board/chip/RAM sucks like I thought, if not and I have missed something then please let me know :)

Try lowering the HTT to 2x. my gigabyte board wouldn't go past 220 until i lowered it.
If its stable at 210, it should be able to boot into windows at 215.
Try dropping your multi to 10 or 9 then up the FSB to see if it will go past 210, (256x9 will also give you 2.3) you may have to lower your ram more.

OK I gave it another go tonight, same story. I dunno if I'm doing soemthing wrong, anybody here ever clocked with this board?
