Goldeneye Remake

They should do the title justice and put it on a decent console. What a waste.

shhhhh, Dont say things like this. You may not intend to troll, but its going to do nothing for the thread is it!

As for what a waste... A waste for who? The millions and millions of wii owners?

A waste to the developer by putting the game on a console that's sold more world wide than any other this gen?

Or are we talking a waste just to people who dont own a wii?

Im guessing you mean graphically a waste...In which case, I disagree. As pretty bells and whistles FPS james bond games have failed and failed again.
Goldeneye is about substance and nostalgia

Still don't get why they've modelled Daniel Craig as Bond and not Brosnan...

Hate to say it, but I feel this is going to be a massive let-down. :(

There's only one way to play GoldenEye imo. ;)

Its not meant as a troll, it just winds me up.

When GE was released on the 64 it was a revolution, both graphically and with the game play. Releasing a remake of possibly the best 3rd person shooters to date onto on of the most underpowered consoles available today is lunacy.

Just imagine the restraints the wii's power (or lack of) will put on not only the graphics but the game play, not to mention the multilayer options. Remember the split screen fog?

With stuff like Killzone, Crysis and MW2 being current, I think we need all the Golden Eye we can get!

Well I'm basically repeating myself here from the last thread, but anyways...

Last year myself and three of my works colleagues found an old N64 at work, so I managed to find my copy of Goldeneye and a few more controllers. We were all fans of it back in the day and decided we would have a go before heading down the pub on a Friday evening.

To say we were disappointed is an understatement.... it was nothing like the experience we remember and the controls are horrible. At the time it was amazing, but it's not aged well at all. Even the most bland of FPS from a few years ago is better.

The trouble with this remake is that originally we were going to see a simple multiplayer remake for Xbox Live Arcade. I think that would have been fun and a lot of people would have picked it up.

After the whole Rare/Nintendo/Activision/Bond hoo-haa we've got a Wii exclusive game, which as I'd imagine most of us on here are really into our games, is a let down, as the Wii really doesn't do it justice when you look at the video of it so far, it looks so half-hearted.

The Wii controller itself doesn't really seem like it's going to suit playing a FPS at all.

The whole thing just strikes me as a waste.
I've got a Wii, I'm not going to buy it. Had it been an Xbox Live Arcade game for a few microsoft points, then I'd have no doubt bought it, as my mates would do the same.

it cant be revolutionary if it was plagued with fog and slowdown now, can it :p

I haven't seen the PC, 360 or PS3 do much for fps gameplay recently.

Technical grunt isn't going to be the deciding factor here - it's whether they can recreate the tense, small scale, John Woo style battles that Golden Eye did so well. And while i'm on the topic - why are there so few fps that focus on small teams. 2 vs 2 is where it's at!

You think this could have been due to the horrible frame rate, fuzzy visuals, and having to get used to a 1 stick control method again? Have you tried the PD remake? It shows just how superbly the gameplay holds up today - infact playing 4 player split PD is possibly the most fun i've had playing a fps this gen.

I don't like the idea of a remake :/ the game should be EXACTLY as it was which is what made it a classic in the first place! it's probably going to be pure fail and sticking Daniel Craig in it just isn't right. :(

You just know its going to be pure crud. A Low budget, under developed title with poor controls. Just like 90% of the wii games out there.

Goldeneye was fantastic in its day because it introduced the wider masses to FPS deathmatch. However that was 13 years ago and things have moved on substantially since then. I can't imagine this being anything other than a soulless rehash of a game that hasn't actually aged that well when you play it now.
