Goldeneye: Source -new version out tomorrow

I had a quick blast on it last night, found it very good, seems like they were trying to be very true to the original game and I think they came out trumps so fair play.

I expect it'll have bugs and other issues, as it's a first release, but I think this mod will be good fun in the long run, and at least it lets us re-live the good ol’ days of N64 fun :D

Scort.

just had a play, some servers are really damn laggy!

the PP7 seems to shoot really quickly too..

needs a lot of touching up

Cheers for the pics Xtrm2Matt, looks pretty decent anyway. May download it when i get chance and check it out.

I really like it....although trying to hit someone for a distance is impossible, i find.

and the sniper rifle is actually rubbish which is a shame

How are you supposed to install this?

Firstly you need either HL2/HL2: DM, CS: Source or DOD: Source. You then need to download the Source SDK (free, from Steam).

Then download either the .exe file or the .zip file for GE: Source. The .exe is an installer, so just run it and it'll install. The .zip file needs to be extracted to X:/Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/SourceMods/gesource, or something similar.

Then you need to change the "launch options". Goto "My Games" under Steam, find "Goldeneye: Source Beta 1" and right click it and click "Propteries". Then click "Set launch options..." and add this:
C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 320 -game "C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\SourceMods\gesource

Change whatever is needed to fit how you installed it :)

Hope that isn't too confusing.

All I did was install HL2 and CSS from DVD, then after they had updated via Steam, I ran the Goldeneye installer, after restarting Steam I had an icon for Goldeneye in my games - trying to launch it then prompted me to install the SDK which it did by itself.

Easy as :)

Scort.
