having trouble with my shuttle, windows is being flakey and all the hardware seems ok, time for a reinstall!

currently have vista hp that was done as an upgrade, but have full copy of vista bussiness now and was thinking of using vlite to slip stream sp2. anyone used this yet quite simple? anything to watch out for...?

and have i got everything?

user folder...
firefox bookmarks
itunes folders
downloads folder

:D i always forget something :D

Rather than go to the trouble it would be just as quick to just download service pack 1 and 2 (yes, apparently unlike XP you need both) and burn them to disc ready for installation.

I dunno about you, but when I installed the 2 services packs for Vista they took ages to install. Surely it would be quicker to just slipstream them and have them installed during installation.

Hmm, you have a point. If you were doing lots of computers then it would be worth it - I love my XP SP3 disc - but I remember it taking an age to make in the first place.

My angle was, for one machine, it would probably be quicker and more straightforward to apply the service packs after install (at which point I would clone the install so I didn't have to do it again) rather than try to create a slipstream disc.

And yes they do take an age. :)

Slipstream installs are cleaner than service packing. I always vlite my XP installs and remove IE, Help and Support and all that other crap I do not need. Can cut 100s off the install size and plenty of time off the install.

i have always used nlite, but if vlite does not support sp2 then there is no point as my vista disc has sp1 built in, cheers chaps just thought i would ask
