As the title says....however its become apparent that I have to use the external sata port and one of the internal sata ports to get raid to actually work :( Im planning on having both raptors internal and running an esata-> sata cable into my case and to the ratpor to solve the problem of not having an internal RAID controller. Does any1 have any experience with this / whats the perfromance like relative to native internal RAID support? Should I just invest in a RAID controller card or another mobo instead?

Basically, there are 5 internal sata ports and one external one. Problem is, the raid controller sits on the external port and only works with one of the internal sata ports to support RAID 0 or 1 making the other 4 sata ports only available for single drive use.

Woohoo, rpstewart I knew I could count on you trawling this part of the forum. Cheers man. Now all I gotta do is source one of those cables as OcUk doesnt have any in atm :( Incidentally, no IT shop in Liverpool (nor any electrical shops stock them) and all the normal electrical appliance shops dont have any in.

Yea Iv been thinking about that as well as I dont fancy having any more cables around the back of my rig :p Cant really afford a new mobo atm so thats out of the question, and the only slot available on my mobo is a pci-e 1x slot which is gonna be used up by a new sound card (gfx cooler takes up the other slots). So this I think is gonna have to be the best temporary solution till i can get a new mobo.

Yea man. I'v fine-combed the Asus forums not to mention most tech forums available in this universe to see if there is anything that can be done about this apart from re-designing and re-making the motherboard myself. Apparently there isnt and we have to face reality :)
