Looking for a good external enclosure for a 3.5" drive.

The ones I tried seem to be a bit iffy. I had a cheap one that worked fine if it picked up, but often didn't. Then I got an Eaxer USB 3.0 enclosure that had good reviews and it works fine for my 2tb wd green, but for some reason doesn't work properly with my 1tb wd blue .

I was trying to use it to copy my games from the blue over to my new drive, but while it done the smaller libraries (uplay, origin etc) fine, when trying to move my steam folder (700GB or so), it would start fine, then eventually drop to 0 bytes and then the enclosure stops responding and has to be unplugged. Transfer was fine over sata, so nothing wrong with the blue, just the enclosure not working for some reason.

On x99 which can apparently be fussy with usb, but it worked with the green and all my externals that were bought as externals are fine, I just seem to run into problems when trying to make an external.

So any recommendations on a good enclosure? or is this sort of compatiblity nonsense a common issue and not worth messing around with?
