Good 80 gig hard drive?

Well im trying to upgrade my computer to squeeze a little bit more life out of it until i upgrade at christmas. right now i have a 40gig WD 7200rpm 8mb cash, now that does the job perfect but im just filling it up at a stupid rate. can anyone recommend a good 80 gig hard drive with the same spec.

IDE or SATA?

The Hitachi Deskstars are the best around, 80gb SATA2 can be had for around £38 inc vat.

They're faster and according to recent surveys the most reliable on the market. Samsung are quieter though.

In that case go for a Western Digital or Hitachi whichever takes your fancy.

If your budget can stretch to a further £15-25, I would get a 160gb or 200gb drive. You will be getting more value per gigabyte and have more than adequate storage for a while to come.
