I like the straight-through airflow design, but the market is moving away from me. Today I use a 860W PC P&C which has been superb, but it's approaching it's 7th birthday and has had a hard life.

Is there a credible replacement? Dropping to 600W would be fine. I'd like to avoid the noise profile of server grade kit.

Swapping to a 120mm fan is possible, but forces unwelcome compromises elsewhere. Thanks

Just about all manufacturers have ditched that approach now and psu's are more commonly fitted in the base of a case these days so that they draw air if from under the case. Most have a 120mm, 135mm or even a 140mm fan. At a guess I would say it is because it directly cools all of the components equally whereas a straight through design causes hotspots due to other components disrupting the airflow.
