Good beginners camera?

I used to have the S5600 bridge camera. Absolutely superb entry level bridge camera. It really helped me develop my photography skills enough to warrant buying a DSLR. As an allrounder ... recommended by me! :)

I've got it's younger brother, the S5600 and it's a great beginner camera. It has pretty much everything you will need as a beginner, good quality, full manual controls, 10x zoom or macro mode. I can't see a better alternative for the price. The only thing you can't do is change the lens but unless you want to spend £300+ on a base camera then this is the best option.:)

EDIT: Might want to remove the link because OcUK sells cameras.

Thanks for all the replies.

One other thing, I've been readin more about this and the blurb says it is good for capturing detail on small things but I prefer to take pictures or larger things like scenery and buildings? Will it be okay for taking these shots as well?

I'd heartily recomment the Fuji S6500fd. A slight step up from the 5600/5700 and a fantastic camera.

@ wildman: yep, you can get a raynox lens that will fit the S6500fd :)

Hmmm, the price of that camera is making me want to grab one... Going to have a look on flickr for some some shots taken with it...
