I am on a somewhat constrained budget and when it comes to the headset I want to pay as little as possible. What is the least I could pay and still retain fairly good sound quality, build quality and comfort?

Well theres a CloudII review just below I did, I use to use a cheap £30 corsair headset before and you can read peoples comments about the Corsair and how bad they were in that review.

Whether that applies to all cheap headsets I do not know, but they were rubbish.

What is the creative HS800 like?

Flimsy build quality and 'ok' sound. We have gone through 2 sets on one of our machines at home. We buy them because they are cheap and have acceptable sound quality. On my own machine I use Hyper X Clouds. Robust and discernibly better sound quality.

How budget are we talking?

My budget pair for my laptop on the go are Sades SA-902, decent enough sound quality /build quality and comfortable to wear for long periods, some people probably won't like it being a USB device rather than through the jacks though.

My main set is a SteelSeries Siberia that you can get for 50 notes or just above; superb headphones in terms of sound quality but I've got some concerns over the build quality, maybe I just got unlucky but managed to break a previous pair (will say their support was damn good though)

If I was on a budget, I would get some Monoprice 'Premium Hi-Fi DJ Style Over Ear Pro Headphone'.

£17 odd quid. Clip-on mic.

Check InnerFidelity's Wall of Fame. They are the same as the 8320's.

This is a good idea. If you truly want quality sound on a budget then a headset like the Monoprice Hi-Fi headphones or a Sennheiser HD201 would be a great purchase (sub £20) with a clip on mic which you can find between £5-7.

These are entry-level audiophile headphones that are the best bang for buck in terms of sound.

HyperX, always.

I own the black/red version of those, and they are tremendous. Great sound quality, good mic, and comfortable for long sessions.

I recently threw my Corsair HS40's in the bin, utter garbage! Sound quality is appalling, build quality is worse. Very common issues of broken wires in the cable, I repaired mine twice before it stopped working altogether.

Replaced with some Cloud II's and never looked back, sound quality is very good, build quality is beyond what I expected and they are very comfy too.
