Ive decided on the components for my new system, can someone check for me and let me know what you think and if its all compatible?

The budget is £1200 (about $2300). No peripherals needed other than what is already listed

Will be using this computer for gaming and 3d work. I will also be overclocking the system

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600

GPU: Sapphire X1950XT

Motherboard: Asus P5B Deluxe

Case: Antec P180

Hard drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB

External HD: WD Premium myBook 250gb

PSU: Enermax Liberty 500W

DVDRW: Samsung Lightscribe 18x

Sound card: Creative X-Fi Extreme Music

Headset: Speedlink Medusa 5.1 Home

Memory: Corsair 2gb 6400 XMS2

Heatsink: Tuniq Tower 120

Fans: Scythe 120mm 1600rpm fan (x2)

Floppy: Sony Black Floppy drive

USB flash drive: Sandisk 1gb

so what do you think? will it all work ok? Bear in mind that at some point im going to be dropping in an intel quad core and the 8800GTX, so i dont know how that would affect my current component selection

Welcome to the forums, could you remove the links to competitors please. If you can't find the equivalent on OcUK then just post the name to save any problems. :)

For what it is worth it is all compatible though on a quick check. You might want to consider a PSU with a slightly higher wattage than the Enermax though for Quad Core and the 8800GTX though. :)

sorry about the links, guess i should read the rules before i start posting

regarding the psu, i have been advised to change to a seasonic power supply as theyre more stable. would a M12 600W be enough, bearing in mind my intended future upgrades?

im also going to be throwing a 150gb raptor into the mix

Thanks for removing them so promptly. :)

A Seasonic M12 600w would be fine, you could however pick a Corsair 620w which is based on the same design but cheaper and supposed to also be built to higher quality standards.

hmm interesting

whats the amperage on the 620W corsair? and are there any reviews which compare the corsair to the seasonic?

I don't have a direct comparison between the two but jonnyguru has reviewed the Seasonic M12 700w(which is close enough) and the Corsair 620w. The Amperage on the Corsair is a max of 50A if all rails are combined, note the addendum on jonnyguru's review though, it appears as if it may just be a massively powerful single rail PSU.
