Hi

Off canoeing from saturday to next friday, however what is some good camping food, I am going to be using a hexiburner so will prefare dry foods that taste good. What are your suggestions?

Thanks

Biscuits, dont even need cooking.. unless your weird..

dont forget mustard either.. its multipurpose

unless you dont like either of those things.. i wouldnt take stuff you dont like..

Trouble is with biscuits they would take up a fair bit of room in my bag, as I would need to take more then one packet

Anything in tins. And lots of it.
Also get a mess tin to eat it out of, and a spoon. The spoon is multi purpose, no need for knife or fork.

Anything that can be prepared by simply adding boiled water to it.

Super noodles, Cupa soup, Mashed potatoe (you can get it in tubs, comes dry, just add water) - they do a cheese one that's about edible in emergencies.

Actually, thinking about it, just get as many ration packs as you can muster from camping websites and the like. The forces use them for a reason :)

Don't forget the mess tin :p

Tbh I have had rat packs before and found them trueley awful

i agree rat packs f.t.w these things kept me and my team alive on many a atc camping trip and i quite liked them to :D

Pack of dried fruit/nuts to snack on while your going and a bit of chocolate for a nice taste & energy boost :)

Super noodles/Just add water pasta packs/anything with 'just add water' that doesn't come in daft rigid packaging or heavy tins! Also Angel Delight is nice! Dirt cheap as well.

Don't forget lots of water either :) It's easy to forget when canoeing how much you're working, especially when it's sunny and you don't notice the heat so you have to be careful of getting dehydrated.

And I imagine you're not a canoeing n00b, but just in case don't forget suncream, and don't forget your wrists/skin surfaces which are pointing waterwards!

Wouldnt advise takin tins because of the extra weight especially for six days. The pasta that you add milk to is good and you can either take milk or powdered milk and add water which makes for a better sauce. Anythin thats just add water though tbh.

We always used to take chocolate digestives on our D of E expeditions and have them with instant custard for pudding... MMMMMM, delicious!

Couple of tins of irish stew. Instant noodles/rice. One of those large mattesons pork sausages (dont need refrigeration). Naan/pitta breads (flat and long lasting). Cerial bars for snacks. Instant soups. Garibaldi biscuits. Tinned sardines. Porridge. Pepperami's. Beef jerky.
