Hey guys, I finally have WHS 2011 up and running but I have a little issue. How do I set it to sleep mode or does it lack this feature like the n36?

There is a WOL in the bios, would this only be for hibernate?

Aaaaaaarrrrrgggghhhh!!!!! I always miss the good deals.

Well my N40L arrived midweek and I collected it from the post office today. Unfortunately I've realised that I binned the only TFT in the house that had a VGA input so it may be a while before I get it setup. I'm really impressed with the quality of it and can't believe HP can sell these so cheap. I almost bought a new NAS but this is going to be so much more useful for around the same cost.

I've also got 8gb sitting here waiting to go in it. So when I eventually manage to get an OS installed on it I'll probably be dropping the 2gb in the mm.

EDIT: Did anyone else get a pack of screws for extra hdd's? Mine didn't come with any but I assume this is normal?

A question for those who have upgraded the graphics: I am running the server headless and don't have any way of plugging it into a screen (my tft only has a dvi input). If I add a gfx card with dvi would it default to using it, or would I still need to go into the bios to switch it to use that gfx card?

Anyone here running Plex Media Server on their Microserver?

I'm curious whether if the CPU can handle the transcoding, or if not, if it will perhaps do it with the aid of a graphics card.

Plex to my iPad 2 - Transcodes fine without issue.

Also tried PS3 MS and it works for files up to 10GB, for larger files I use mkv2vob and stream the .ts output, works without any issues.

Just to add, when I was using AirVideo it did struggle with on the fly streaming, doesn't with Plex

I had it working on my old server (Debian or Ubuntu, I forget which).

Avahi (afp daemon for Linux) has a timemachine option. You do however need to enable unsupported network volume support on your mac.

It's just worth noting that if you ever have to do a bare-metal restore, that you'll need to enable unsupported network volumes before being able to restore.

I've had mine for a couple of months now

2 x 2TB, 1 x 1TB and 1 x 250BB (for OS) hard drives.
8GB or RAM
and a new addition of a Geforce 210

It's running 1080P content in XBMC without breaking sweat. It's quiet and it's powerful enough to run a few VM's for testing.

Fantastic little box.

I have had mine up and running for a couple of months now as well. Using it as a Storage/Download server. It has 2 x 1Tb and 2 x 2Tb with the memory upgraded to 4gb running Windows XP Pro 32Bit. ITs been rock solid and has not has a single issue. I genrally RDP into it and i also use logmein when i am in the office or downstairs...
