Should do
Smashing, will buy more ram but when the price drops back down a bit

Should do
Can anyone recommend some RAM to get for this machine? At least 4GB, 8GB maybe overkill for what I plan to do with the server.
quick WHS 2011 question guys, i currently have 2 accounts on my microserver at the moment but am wanting to remove the one user and keep the admin as its just me that uses it. the reason i ask is that every time i turn it on i have to log on to it via my mac laptop to enable plex enough though i have it set to enable on startup and am thinking this is down to the 2 accounts ( the user and the admin) will this sort my problem out and is it just a case of removing it in dashboard
Also going on from this question, I am currently trying out Windows Server 2012 Essentials R2 on evaluation which I thought would be a good learning curve for me considering I'm using 2012 at work. I've installed Stablebit which seems like a great piece of software so will more than likely buy it.
Is it worth me sticking any antivirus on this machine considering it is only being used as a file server? If yes then any recommendations as I realise any free ones will be very limited?
On my UPS device there is a power load indicator and it is protecting my N36L with 4 Disks in it. Currently it is sat at 42W with 1 VM running on ESXi 5.1 (the VM is WHS 2011)
Gives you an idea hopefully

Hi guys
Im thinking of installing server 2012 on my N40L and installing the hyper V role, would i need to buy an additional pcie network card to use for the VM's or would i get away with just using the on board controller? Im looking to run maybe 3 VM's in total, i used ESXi before but wanted to give hyper V a try to see how it runs compared to ESX. Im going to get myself a ssd to install the server 2012 OS on then use my 2x 2TB drives as the data stores and VHD's
Hope you might be able to help
cheers
Liam
How do you find yours with VM's, I moved my torrent box from my server to my main rig...
Flawless. The 3 VM's I am running are all pretty lightweight though, one web server, proxy server and another for dev. I have an N54L as well, that's what I use for my home media storage and downloading, streaming etc. But for your case with a torrent seed box, a Windows host running a lightweight distro and torrent client, the microserver won't even be tickled by that unless you haven't upgraded RAM at all?
Hi Liam,
No need for an additional network card, you can run with onboard. I am running Windows 2008 R2 with Hyper-V flawlessly on my N40L upgraded to 8GB RAM and running 3 VM's. OS on the supplied 250GB and my VHD's sit on my array of 2x2TB WD red's. Have fun![]()
Did you use Rufus to create the USB key?I'm about at my wits end with this already. Just discovered the bios issue so trying to update it. not overly fussed with modded bios' so downloaded it direct from HP. Stuck it on a usb stick (have tried 3 so far) and it boots ok from it and displays "Starting Caldera DR-Dos" and then instantly reboots without doing anything :\
Any suggestions?
