Could be windows... sometimes the search simply doesn't find the devices... even if you have a static IP set... that's just Windows being Windows TBH... nothing to do with the NAS... it's helped significantly by a WINS server on your network... but most home networks wouldn't bother with something like that.
You can create shortcuts though... if you have a dynamic IP - then use the NetBIOS name... the name you set it to when setting up...
I named mine:
NAS - with IP 10.0.0.10
TV - with IP 10.0.0.11
Movies - with IP 10.0.0.12
Open windows explorer and in the search bar at the top, you can simply type any of the following to get to the NASes:
\\NAS\
\\10.0.0.10\
\\TV\
\\10.0.0.11\
\\Movies\
\\10.0.0.12\
Of course, the IPs will only work if you know what the IP is and it is static... or dynamic but you track it. I manually choose/set those IPs, so don't use those as a reference for yours or anything.
The name should work even if it's dynamic.
I recommend setting the IP to static though, it will help all your network devices locate it much easier.
Then on Win/Linux/OSX... you can create shortcuts very easily like this:
Simply grab the icon i've pointed to with the top arrow & drag and drop it into the favourites icons on the left after you have navigated to the folder you want to add to favs:
Or take that same link & create a mapped network drive from within My Computer:
