Hello everyone. I am just thinking of starting a new build and am wanting to choose components that will be suitable for overclocking. I am thinking of using:

motherboard: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-355-AS

processor: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-251-AM

RAM: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-178-OC

PSU: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-017-CS

What do you guys think? Will this allow for decent overclocking?

I need to give any more info? Thanks

Its best to include the names of the components as well as the links so ppl dont have to load 4 tabs just to know what you're talking about.

Personally I'd go for this cpu

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-252-AM&groupid=701&catid=6&subcat=803

Same price virtually, only 100mhz slower (2.8ghz as opposed to 2.9ghz) BUT, it has an unlocked cpu multilier, so overclocking is gonna be a doddle and means the memory will remain at stock speeds irrespective of the cpu speed, so cheaper ram can be used:)

Edit: Just read a review of this cpu at "techpowerup" and they say it NOT mulitiplier unlocked yet ocuk here advertise them as having an unlocked multi so I'd hang fire on considering getting one of these until this has been clarified. I've sent ocuk a webnote as wther the multi is infact unlocked or otherwise

Hi DavieJG, yes I will do that in future.

Thanks pieman that sounds great. Thanks for your help. Let me know when they get back to you. Also you said that cheaper ram can be used. Could you recommend some RAM that would be suitable?

So I called and it was indeed a mistake on the website. I am going to use the AMD Phenom II X2 Dual Core 550 instead. More expensive but there we go...

I am using the Coolermaster Elite 335 Case. Obviously am going to get another fan for it but do you guys think that will be enough cooling to do some decent overclocking with that processor and the Asus M4A785TD-V Evo?
