I've got a "casio exilim s770" and love it to bits, I think they're around the £160 mark these days.

Seconded for the Casio Exilm. I've got the Z1000.
SD Card
Great Pics
Great Features (anti shake, Best Shot including: 'pastel effect', 'illustration effect', Sports, Pet)
The Optical Zoom could be better thought. It is only 3x.

Ive got the Canon Ixus 70,

Very good little camera, its also the size of a credit card so its pretty cool.

This has 10.1mp doesn't it?

Are there any more 10mp digi cam's out atm in the £150 - £200 price range?

It has got 10 or so MP.

tbh though unless your gonna print out hoofing great images, is it worth going that high with Megapixels? This camera was a gift from secret santa last year. I had a 3 MP Casio before this.

My gf has a Nikon S10 with 10x optical zoom. That's fun to play with. There are plenty of review sites out there. Or perhaps visit Jessops to test one you like out.

OMG you got a £200 camera from a secret santa..................

Where do you work? Any vacancies going :D

Good Idea about Jessops though ;)

My bro is in the market too and will prob get the same sa me as he cba to read up reviews etc etc ........

Looks like a nice camera and by all account simple to use (for the missus) but a fari few features for me to tinker with

Edit: In your opinion are the pictures sharp and clear in the right settings? Also speed wise from turn on to shot it looks fast (spec wise)? Would you say that?

Also I saw this CANON SD1000 POWERSHOT looks ok!

I bought my gf a Z1000 last christmas and it's great. The battery lasts forever and it takes pretty decent pics for such a thin camera.

I've just moved from one webhost to another and forgot to backup all my pictures so am currently just recropping them all in PS. Here are a bunch of sample pictures I've taken with the Z1000.

Two more for you just to show what it can do in less than ideal situations. Both of these were taken from the second floor balcony of Brixton Academy during a NIN concert. They both have a fair amount of noise but they came out quite well considering the distance to the stage plus the smoke and fog that was in the air.

Nice one....... ;)

Although I have read that the camera struggles indoors at time (your pictures don't seem to show that) and the the pictures can be blurry?

Going to read up on the CANON SD1000 POWERSHOT today and see what thats like!

Thanks for the pics though ;)

Actually, that's a little true. The antishake on the camera is horrible. It just raises the ISO which means more noise so it's turned off by default. I also always usually adjust the ISO settings for pictures indoors. As would be obvious, this camera performs best below ISO 400. I usually use 50 or 100 depending on lighting.

TBH, I probably would have gotten her a different camera but she wanted something that looked nice while being both small and compact. The Z1000 was one of the few I could find that looked really nice and took decent pictures. The black version looks nice enough that all my g/f's friends want one.

more to a camera than mega pixels, and 10.1 on a compact is just silly.

compacts have small sensors than DSLR cameras, so for all out image quality i'm not saying buy a compact (thought the sigma dp1 has a nice big sensor!)

just pointing out that just because the f40 has a higher pixel count than the f31 it does not mean it's better. tbh, combined with the reduce features, i can't see the point of the f40 other than a ploy to sell more cos of the high pixel count.

Damn this!!!!!!!!

There are a fair few digital camera's in the £150 - £200 price range and Im lost as to which to go for

All I want is good quality pictures an easy camera for the fiancé to use but one that has a few settings I can play with?
