Good driving game needed

Dirt 2 and 3. Highly enjoable games with varying degrees of difficulty. The Monte Carlo dlc for Dirt 3 is pretty good and the graphics are great too. Shame the menu system is so annoying, but just about par for Codemasters.

I know you've thought about it but I'd definitely give iRacing a go, although it, like all sims, would be far better with a wheel a pad is supported/does work...

The monthly cost/content cost does make it expensive, but it is also one of, if not the, best sim around atm, rFactor2 has it beat on some areas and loses in others, and frankly nothing else comes close right now imo.

The one main area it excels is the online system, lots of racing and by and large (although you'll start at rookies which is the worst area) it is good clean racing, something I've never really got outside of private leagues in any other game, and most of the time I don't want to restrict myself to only certain times to race...

You can usually get 3 months for the price of 1, or even x months free via various codes (I don't know of any right now though I'm afraid) and it's definitely worth a try, one month is usually $9 iirc and will give you an idea of whether you like it.

Other than iRacing, and as far as sims go, you've got:
rFactor - old, but millions of mods
LFS - old again, but cheap and not bad
netKar pro - some very good aspects, no real online afaik
rFactor2 - in beta, quite good, increasing numbers of mods
CARS - not sure you can get access to this anymore, but imo it's not great anyway, cars are shiney, everything else is meh
'Simbin' (all encompassing term for GTR/Race games) - quite good, not sure on online but as mentioned there's a possible OcUK league thing happening
