Good guides/exercises/advice for using free weights at home?

For the ones that say you need to use a bench, can't you just lay on the floor? (Obviously invalid for incline exercises etc)

Floor press is a good options but I don't think it works the chest as much as an inclined bench position, could be wrong though.
 
You can also try looking at here and scroll down to the dumbbells on the selected muscle. As far as I know (which isn't much, I'm a gym newbie so correct me if I'm wrong :)), some dumbbell exercise versions aren't as good as a proper bench and barbell setup, but they are certainly not a poor substitute if done correctly.
 
Even for home dumbell training would it matter if you did dumbell exercises every day if you were training different muscle groups each day?
